Finasteride (Finast) 5 mg Tabs is a synthetic 4-azasteroid compound and specific inhibitor of steroid Type II 5α-reductase which is used on its own or together with other medicines to treat enlarged prostate gland in men called Benign Prostate Hypertrophy (BPH).
Finasteride is also used to treat male pattern hair loss or baldness and other conditions as decided by your doctor.

How To Take Finasteride (Finast) 5 mg Tabs
This medicine may be taken with or without food. Try to take it at the same time each day.
Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not divide or crush it.
Finasteride must be taken regularly for it to be effective. Continue taking this medicine even when you feel better. Do not stop taking it unless instructed by the doctor.
Take Finasteride exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.
Dosage of Finasteride (Finast) 5 mg Tabs
Benign prostatic hyperplasia: 5 mg once daily for at least 6 months.
Male pattern baldness: 1 mg once daily for at least 3 months.
Missed Dose of Finasteride (Finast) 5 mg Tabs
If you often forget to take your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your usual dosing schedule.
Do not double a dose under any circumstances.
Overdose
If you think you may have used Finasteride more than the usual dose, please seek medical help immediately.

How Does It Work?
Finasteride works by inhibiting the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone and markedly suppresses serum dihydrotestosterone (DHT) levels. In male pattern baldness, finasteride decreases scalp DHT levels found in hairy scalp, thereby increases hair regrowth and slows hair loss.
